Cabell Scholarship
The Cabell Foundation has established a scholarship program open to graduate and upper class students of the University of Virginia and the College of William & Mary. Submissions utilizing and referencing the Cabell Family Papers in the special collections of these two universities will be accepted and judged for a first prize of $700, and a second prize of $300. Honorable mentions will also be given for those entries worthy of merit.
This new scholarship program will provide an excellent opportunity to make students better aware of the rich resources available in their special collections departments of their university libraries, especially those of the Cabell family and relations. It will also strengthen and potentially broaden our understanding of the Cabell family contributions to Virginia and American history.
Submissions must use the considerable resources from the Cabell family papers at the Albert and Shirley Small Library at the University of Virginia, and/or the Special Collections Research Center of the Earl Gregg Swem Library at the College of William & Mary. Topics are not limited to individuals found in the special collections listed below, but the Foundation requires records of these collections to be used to be considered viable submissions.
